Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC)

Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) of KMP College of Pharmacy (KMPCP), Perumbavoor has been established in 2023 with the objective of creating, fostering and promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship among the youth of our college. IEDC is a flagship initiative of Kerala Startup Mission to promote innovation and Entrepreneurship among the students and academic fraternity in educational institutions in the state of kerala and considered as an umbrella program that would play an instrumental role in fostering innovation culture in Academic institutions. The purpose of the IEDCs is to act as an aspirational platform, for the student entrepreneurs and tech savvy innovators, in skilling and sharpening their entrepreneurial skills. The mission is to create IEDC an Innovation Platform and to create future founders by promoting Innovation, Technology and Business Learning among student community

Onam celebration of KMP College of Pharmacy, Perumbavoor, Ernakulam, Kerala was begun with the official welcoming of “Mahabali” in its traditional way with musical band. As an introduction to the Onam celebration, Dr. J Nandhakumar, Principal KMP college of Pharamcy delivered the message in Onam. Cultural events were presented from each batch which also included the iconic dance form –the thiruvaathira kali and other dances associated with the state of Kerala and its heritage. The traditional Onam Sadya was served to the gathering.

Rangoli Competition was conducted at KMP College of Pharamcy, Perumbavoor on 18 august 2022. Rangoli is a traditional form that brightens up an occasion and is believed to be harbinger of good luck. Beautiful patterns are created on the floor using different colours. This program was coordinated by B Pharm 2020. D Pharm 2020 secured first position.

Anti Ragging Programme

Anti ragging class was conducted in KMP college of Pharmacy , Perumbavoor, Ernakulam by Adv. Bindhya Alias on4 July 2022. Adv. Bindhya Alias address to the students spoke about the origin and menace of Ragging in India and the different spheres to it. He also explained the legal consequences of involvement in such activities. He also reiterated that anyone who is actively or passively, or is a part of a conspiracy to promote ragging, is liable to be punished.

On behalf of National science day a Quiz program was organised by KMP College of Pharmacy, Perumbavoor, in association with Institutions Innovation Council on 21-03-2022 Tuesday at Multipurpose Hall. Students from both Dpharm and Bpharm participated in the program with 8 groups. Pharmacy, science ,GK and current affairs were the topics included in the competition.Students from 1 st yr Dpharm 2021 grab the first prize and Bpharm 1 sem 2021 batch had the second prize.

On December 16 2021,we had a yoga class. Mr.Subash and his team explained Sahaja Yoga.Sahajayoga is a religion founded in 1970 by Nirmala Srivastava. Nirmala Srivastava is known as her holiness Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi or as Mother by her followers who are called Sahaj Yogis

It improves mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health.He showed how to relieve stress, memorise what we study and to lead a peaceful life using Sahaj Yoga. It was an amazing experience of learning and practising Sahajyoga in the class.

NANDHAKUMAR, Principal, KMP College of Pharmacy. Chief Patron Haji Sri. K M PAREETH , Chairman, IGMT Trust, inaugurated the orientation programme. The Chief guest Mr. saju John, Assistant Drug controller , Ernakulam. lightened the lamp. After that felicitation by Mr. Saju Jose, placement cell, IGMT and Mr, Aju Jacob. A.O, KMP College of Pharmacy. Dr.J. NANDHAKUMAR, Principal, KMP College of Pharmacy gave brief introduction of the institution and introduced staff incharge and faculties of I semester B Pharm. Dr.HAREESHBABU E, Professor HOD Department of Pharmaceutical chemistry, KMP College of Pharmacy addressed the students and talked about the importance of discipline and goals in one’s life and heartily welcomed the students to KMP College Of Pharmacy.
Dr.J. NANDHAKUMAR, Principal, KMP College of Pharmacy initiated the oath ceremony.
Finally, vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. SREEKANTH S K, Professor & HOD of Department of Pharmaceutics, KMP College of Pharmacy. The program concluded with national anthem.

National Pharmacy Week Celebration

Pharmacy week celibraction- 2k21 (Pharm arts 2021) under the theme of pharmacist: ‘AN INTEGRAL PART OF HEALTH CARE’’ in between 09.12.2021 to 15.12.2021. The function was inaugurated by Haji Sree K M Pareeth, Chairman, IGGIS. after the session was addressed by Dr. J. NANDHAKUMAR, Principal, KMP College of Pharmacy . Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are informative years.

 

MIC has envisioned encouraging creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses.

 

Major focus of IIC

 

• To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem.
• Start-up supporting Mechanism in HEIs.
• Prepare institute for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements Framework.
• Establish Function Ecosystem for Scouting Ideas and Pre-incubation of Ideas.
• Develop better Cognitive Ability for Technology Students.

 

Functions of IIC

 

• To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bound fashion.
• Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
• Organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
• Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
• Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students.
• Organize Hackathons, idea competition, mini-challenges etc. with the involvement of industries.

The theme for this year is “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights” The Government under the aegis of Ministry of Women and Child Development has proposed to observe the Day throughout the country alongwith a media and publicity campaign from 01 March to 07 March, 2020, in the run-up to the main event on 8 March, 2020.

International Women’s Day (IWD), celebrated every year on 8th March is a significance of social, economic, cultural and political accomplishment of women. The day also implies an act of accelerate gender uniformity. KMP College of Pharmacy celebrated IWD on 6th March, 2020 as a part of which different games, activities and a motivational lecture was organized for increasing motivation and confidence of female students as well as faculty members.

CORONA AWARENESS PROGRAMME

Based on directions from the state education department, District Education Officers and University heads to colleges to reduce the risk of Coronavirus, KMP college of pharmacy have conducted awareness classes for the students regarding the pandemic and steps to be taken to be safe. This programme conducted on 10.03.2020 at 9.30 am.

The preventive measures including washing hands frequently with soap, respiratory etiquette like using hand kerchief over mouth while coughing/ sneezing, use of tissue paper or using the sleeve of shirt covering the upper arm were discussed. The students were instructed not to attend college if one is sick and to avoid public gatherings, which will not only help in preventing or reducing transmission of the virus, but also other communicable diseases, notably flu like illness.

Advisory measures like avoiding close contact with anyone with cold, cough or flu like symptoms were given and strictly advised to consult a doctor in case of cough, fever or difficulty in breathing.

Pamphlets, containing related information for common public in nearby areas and hand sanitizers were distributed as required, and attempts were made to aware them of the basic precautionary measures to be undertaken to avoid its infection and spread. Instead of panicking, the people were encouraged to wash their hands regularly, avoid gatherings and maintain at least 1 meter distance during interaction.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

Christmas is the season of joy, holiday greetings exchanged, gift-giving, and families getting united. The Christmas celebrations took place in the college campus on 21st December 2019.
The college was beautifully decorated. The students sang melodious carols and danced beautifully to wish their teachers and classmates.
The significance of the festival was explained to the students through the Christmas story.
To inculcate the spirit of sharing the students distributed a small Christmas gift. The staff and students were completely spellbound with the Christmas gratification and the day was called off with a hearty lunch.

ANTI-NARCOTICS CLUB

On 18 December 2019 at time 10am, a memorable inauguration event of the Anti-Narcotics club was organized by the KMP College of Pharmacy. This event was 2 hours long and was held in the Conference hall of KMPCP. In this event, students and faculty of various departments took part. After that, under the supervision of the police, awareness was created in Asamaoor area and logs were distributed.

he main objectives are Empower students to make informed decisions related to use of alcohol and other drugs.  Emphasize an awareness of choice, personal responsibility, and understanding of consequencesØ in deciding to use alcohol and other drugs.  Encourage the campus community to prevent alcohol and drug-related incidents.

WORLD AIDS DAY

World Aids Day observed annually on December 1st, dedicated to raising awareness of AIDS caused by the spread of HIV infection. Government and health officials observe the day, often with speeches or forums on the AIDS topics. As a part of the campaign to prevent the increasing number of HIV-positive adults and children, an awareness programme on AIDS was organised by  by KMP College of Pharmacy. its objectives and strengthening of RRC unit through a power-point presentation & Life Skill promotion and also has shown some jingles and photographs. More than sixty students including B.Pharm &D.Pharm actively participated in the Programme.

WORLD PHARMACIST DAY CELEBRATION

KMP College of Pharmacy celebrated WORLD PHARMACIST DAY on 25.09.2019 (Time:11am). The purpose of the celebration was to understand and celebrate the role of Pharmacist’s in our society. On this day all the services offered by Pharmacist were recognised and valued.

As the part of the celebration following activities were conducted:

  • Oath taking ceremony by Qualified Pharmacist(Faculty) and budding Pharmacist(students).
  • A tour on Dosage forms signifying physiological effects of some common over the counter medications.
  • Students from B.Pharmacy& D. Pharmacy attended the program. The total number of students present were 65.

INAUGURATION DAY

The Inauguration of the  First Batch of  B. Pharm & D.Pharm was conducted on 16th September 2019.Inaugural address was delivered by Sri.Adv.Eldhose Kunnapilly (MLA Perumbavoor.). The event was presided  over by Principal ,KMP College of Pharmacy Dr.J.Nandhakumar who gave the Presidential Address. Mr. Paulson Peeter,(Registrar KMP Campus ) welcomed all new students with their parents, , Sri.N.M Salim  President (Asamanoor  Grama Panchayath) delivered the Key Note Address, Mrs P.U Shereena (Treasurer,Indira Gandhi memorial Trust) delivered the Special address .Mr. Anish P.S (Academic counselor ,KMP Campus )gave a vote of thanks to the efforts that went behind the event, and all those who graced the occasion.
