Indira Gandhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Indira Gandhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences is governed by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust and comes under the Indira Gandhi Group of Institutions, Nellikuzhi, Kerala. This College is on a mission to bring about a positive potential and peaceful influence on society through affordable globalized education. We give quality education in the field of pharmacy.

A diploma in Pharmacy is a two-year course. The examination consists of two parts, Part 1 (1st  year) and Part 2 (2nd year). Each part consists of six papers. There will be an examination at the end of Part I and Part II with written, oral, and practical tests.  Pharmacy is a Paramedical field involved in the preparation, dispensing and appropriate use of medication meant for therapeutic purposes.

The person who has completed D.Pharm can be employed as a registered pharmacist in Hospital and Community pharmacies dispensing drugs and pharmaceuticals. It has been made mandatory that at least one person employed in a pharmacy must be a qualified registered pharmacist. After completion of a D.Pharm, one should complete the respective pharmacy council registration to become a registered pharmacist. A D.Pharm holder can go for a professional degree (undergraduate) course of B.Pharm in India via a lateral entry scheme.

Eligibility :

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent then too, with 50% mark in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics is eligible. Candidates from the national open school (NIOS) are not eligible to apply for the course.

The allotments to this programme are made through a centralized allotment process made by the Director of Medical Education, Trivandrum will be through a Single Window System (SWS) / the Director, LBS Centre, under the supervision of the Director of Medical Education. The allotments will be strictly based on the options exercised by the candidate and the rank lists prepared by the Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Trivandrum.
