A diploma in Pharmacy is a two-year course. The examination consists of two parts, Part 1 (1st year) and Part 2 (2nd year). Each part consists of six papers. There will be an examination at the end of Part I and Part II with written, oral, and practical tests. Pharmacy is a Paramedical field involved in the preparation, dispensing, and appropriate use of medication meant for therapeutic purposes.
The person who has completed a D.Pharm can be employed as a registered pharmacist in Hospital and Community pharmacies dispensing drugs and pharmaceuticals. It has been made mandatory that at least one person employed in a pharmacy must be a qualified registered pharmacist. After completion of a D.Pharm, one should complete the respective pharmacy council registration to become a registered pharmacist. A D.Pharm holder can go for a professional degree (undergraduate) course of B.Pharm in India via a lateral entry scheme.
